Thank You Creator For The sacred clay we harvested and processed by hand with the help from our dedicated mentors.
This is important for us because this is the way our ancestors harvested this clay for bean pots and other cooking items. It is important we teach the youth how to preserve language culture heritage and tradition this process is important so we do not forget our old ways and how to respectfully harvest clay. It is a sacred location this was the same area our grandparents and great grandparents and ones that came before harvested clay. Before our time this land was used and taken care of and we continue to take care of this land for our grandchildren to come and learn and enjoy this land is sacred to our people.
Sincerely,
aspen song kids
We had a fun time going to the forest to respectfully harvest clay in reciprocity and to give thanks for this gift from mother earth. Then a few days later, we processed the clay to get ready to make some pottery. Next up, we are excited to share the clay with our grandmother who has lots of experience with pottery! We have been making some creations so far available at our stand on the northside under the drying racks.
